architectural programming.
THE RESEARCH AND DECISION-MAKING PHASE FOR YOUR PROJECT.
we set-up and consult the phase zero between clients, their stakeholders and their architects to create a project of transformative distinction. It is your new work building, your research facility or your production area - the buildings you plan will shape the way you think and perform in future. invest in designing a system in phase zero, which is transformative and emergent.

for real estate developers: challenge your building projects in their fitness for future

for architects: set up a phase zero team or learn the method to enter and as innovation designer.
incubation: 1-day-workshop, 5-day-sprint, or an incubation lab.
architectural programming is a structured method for working effective in the decision-making process at phase zero. It emphasizes the raise of required information to an optimum level at the beginning of a project, with the thinking and visual tools of architecture. It was established and taught since the late 1950ies in the U.S. but did not find - with few exceptions - broad acceptance among architects in Europe. eegarded as „research and decision-making process that defines the problem to be solved by design” (Cherry 1999). architectural programming integrates elements of scientific research, project management and architectural design thinking. Considering its basic principle to separate solution from problem and extensively examine context, content and complexity of a (building) project, it can be viewed as predecessor to the method of Design Thinking gaining in relevance in the past years.
“The goal of architectural programming is to define problems to be solved by design. There should be not an underlying assumption that the solution must be the design of a building, and only a building.”
